So, life gets a little crazy sometimes. A lot of the times I do photo shoots where I have to wait until the article has been published, or the restaurant is open or the cookbook is on the stands. When the timing is right where I am able to post sometimes life is hectic and I’m on to other projects. Needless to say…I am FINALLY posting some images from the first cookbook I have photographed.
I had the pleasure of working with a great team to produce “Salt Block Grilling” by Mark Bitterman. My food stylist was the talented and amazing Ashley Marti of Local Haven. And I could not have done this project without my digital tech, AJ Meeker.
The entire experience was interesting and educational and at times stressful. But- I assume those are all characteristics of photographing a cookbook and I’m so glad I have one under my belt! The book, as you can guess, is all about grilling on Himalayan salt blocks. It’s amazing what you can grill on those pink squares, including chocolate chip cookies. You can pick up a copy at any Powell’s bookstore or at both The Meadow locations (Mark’s stores.) You can also order the book online via Amazon and Sur La Table.
Below are some of my favorite images from the four-day photo shoot. It’s a mixture of grill-action shots and plated/styled shots. I hope you enjoy the images and pick up a copy of the book!
