American-forged carbon steel knife is a thing of beauty, isn’t it? I recently had the pleasure of working with the Steelport Knives team and photographed my first chef knife.
“Steelport Knife Co. is a small team dedicated to producing the finest trusted kitchen knives available. Our work combines premium materials, traditional forging technique, and American heirloom craftsmanship. We manufacture and sharpen each knife by hand in Portland, Oregon.”
The 8″ chef knife features a natural wood handle, contoured bolster with hand-polished edges, temper line, 65 HRC hardness, and a forged full tang. Did I learn what most of those descriptions meant during the two shoots? Yes, yes, I did. And if I forget or need a refresher their website does a great job at describing and educating. You’ll notice two looks to the knives. Eytan Zias, the bladesmith, decided to showcase the temper line from the different heat treatments. The second batch of photos (you’ll see the change) is what the knife will look like when you decide to order this beautiful piece of cutlery.
