Have you attended a “Versus” dinner at Plaza Del Toro? If not, you’re missing out on some delicious courses, light-hearted competition, a lot of fun and all for a good cause. “Three ingredients, six courses, two top chefs. Versus is PLAZA DEL TORO’s competitive dinner series where two chefs have one month to bring their A-game and push boundaries developing dishes featuring three ingredients of our choice. At the end of the month, they come out swinging with three back-to-back courses, followed by dessert from PLAZA DEL TORO pastry chef Ashley Claybaugh,” states Plaza’s website. All the proceeds go to the winning chef’s charity of choice.
I was invited to photograph and partake (the best part of my job) in the January competition. Emory Brun of Backyard Social put up an awesome fight against Sam Saltos of Zilla Sake. The three featured ingredients were mussels, blood orange, and quail. Saltos and his team took home the win, but honestly, everyone seated at the dinner table were the real winners. The charity of choice went towards the fight against breast cancer.
Check out the next Versus dinner at Plaza Del Toro February 24th. Enjoy the photos.
